About the history of our theater...
The theater team began its creative activity on September 1, 1978 in the building of the Uzbek State Drama Theater named after Hamid Olimjon in Samarkand with a performance based on Ghairati's play "Ali Little". At the time of the establishment of the theater, work began in the adapted building, and in 1992 it was moved to the building of the Uzbek Drama Theater named after Hamid Olimjon. This building was built in 1895 for the purpose of "Zdaniya obshestvennogo sobraniya" based on the project of architect G. M. Svarivichevskii. The theater building was built in 1895 and is listed in the state register as a historical monument. Since 1978, the theater has been operated as the Samarkand State Puppet Theater. In 2000, the theater was named after Asror Jorayev, an artist who contributed to the development of the theater art of the Republic and Samarkand region, People's Artist of Uzbekistan.
Jorayev Asror (1911.22.11 — Samarkand — 1983.28.11) is a director and actor. People's Artist of Uzbekistan (1950). He completed a special directing course (Moscow, 1939, 1948). He started his creative career in the "blue shirt" amateur troupe. Since 1930, he has been an actor at the Samarkand Theater, a director since 1933 (1940-44, 1948-57 chief director). Since 1964, he has been a director at the Samarkand Opera and Ballet Theater. As an actor, he created characters such as Olmas ("We burn"), Yegor ("family"). The best performances: "Davron Ota", "Community Boy", "Nurkhan", "Alisher Navoi", "Shahi So'zana", "Sepsiz Kiz", "Nadira" and others. He also staged operas such as "Dilerom" (M. Ashrafiy), "Tahir and Zuhra" (T. Jalilov), "Maysara's work" (S. Yudakov), "Farhod and Shirin" (V. Uspensky, G. Mushel). He also performed on the stages of Jizzakh, Kashkadarya regional musical drama theaters, Kattakorgan drama theater.
According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 246 dated July 29, 2016, the name Asror Jorayev was removed from the Asror Jorayev Puppet Theater of the Samarkand Region and it was renamed the Samarkand Region Puppet Theater. Since 1987, the theater team has been participating in the traditional festivals of puppet theaters of the Republic and taking high places. The creative team of the theater participated in the 11th traditional festival of puppet theaters of Uzbekistan in 2018 and won the second place with the historical fairy tale performance "The Magical Doctor" staged by authors Shaodat Usmonova and Durdona Orokova, director Shaodat Usmonova. . In March 2019, he participated in the theater days in Mersin, Turkey, with the play "The Star of Ulugbek". At the same time, he went on creative trips to the Russian cities of Moscow, Leningrad, Orenburg, Krasnodarsky Krai.
Participated in the "Daejeong Puppet Theater and Street Performance" festival organized by UNESCO in connection with the 2002 World Cup in South Korea with the performance "Haji Tam-Tam Hangoma" and won a prize. possessing the runes.
Until today, in order to strengthen the international relations of the theater, on February 10, 2023, the director of the theater, Feruzbek Abdurayimov, signed a memorandum of understanding with Samat Altayev, the director of the Shymkent City Puppet and Young Audience Theater of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in order to strengthen the cultural relations of the two countries.
On March 24, 2023, the director of "Istanbul Shadow Theater of the Republic of Turkey" Cengiz Òzek paid a creative visit to Samarkand. During the visit, theater director Feruzbek Abdurayimov signed a mutual memorandum on the development of cultural relations between the two countries and the establishment of creative cooperation between theaters.
On June 25, 2023, a Memorandum was signed with the director of the theater Feruzbek Abdurayimov and the director of the puppet theater "Ganja" of the city of Ganja, Republic of Azerbaijan, Fermail Pasaev, in order to establish creative cooperation.
On July 15, 2023, the director of the Dushanbe State Puppet Theater of the Republic of Tajikistan Safarzoda Izatullo Amirali discussed the development of international cooperation in the field of culture, including puppet theater, and establishing creative cooperation. a memorandum was signed and mutual cooperation was established.
On September 6, 2023, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Samarkand Region Puppet Theater and the State Academic Puppet Theater of the Russian Federation named after S.V.Obrazsov
